Leadership Change

The American Pakistan Foundation is announcing a leadership change within the organization.  APF’s Executive Director, Amber Jamil, has resigned from her position and completed her last day on February 15, 2017. The APF Board of Directors appreciates the leadership Amber provided to further the goals of the organization during her tenure and wishes her the best in her future endeavors. Effective immediately, APF Board Members Vanessa O’Brien and Masood Malik will serve as interim co-Executive Directors until a new Executive Director is appointed.

Vanessa O’Brien completed her Executive MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University and has over 20+ years of executive experience in global financial services. She is an avid mountaineer who was the first to set the Guinness World Record for climbing the Seven Summits in 295 days and is also the fastest woman to complete the Explorers Grand Slam (Seven Summits plus skiing the last degree to the North and South Poles).  In June 2017 she will attempt K2, the second highest peak in the world, located in Pakistan.

Masood Malik has 30 years of experience in international development centered on policy and strategic planning, energy sector reform, institution building, and economic/energy development. He has advised USAID, the World Bank, and Asian development programs in South Asia and beyond. His work includes a strategy and project portfolio of water and energy projects in Pakistan. He recently served as a Senior Energy Advisor in the USAID Africa Bureau. Prior to that he served as a Senior Energy Advisor at IRG/Engility, a USAID energy partner.

We appreciate Vanessa and Masood’s leadership and commitment as APF continues to advance its mission to catalyze efforts of the Pakistani American diaspora to participate in every facet of American society to their fullest potential, enable the diaspora to leverage their collective resources and efforts towards socio-economic development in Pakistan, and build bridges of understanding and lasting ties between the people of the United States and Pakistan.

The APF Board has initiated a formal process to recruit a new Executive Director. All correspondence should be directed to APF’s Director of Community Engagement, Jocelyne Jeannot at info@americanpakistan.org.
