Professor Zia is an adjunct lecturer at CUNY. A North Carolina native, she has worked in higher administration at East Carolina University integrating multicultural leadership programs in the student development framework. And later served as a political appointee in St. Louis County, Missouri in the County Executive’s cabinet working towards viable integration for immigrant residents, and as an economic development liaison for the immigrant community. As a PhD candidate in political economy, her research interests include economic integration and development of immigrant communities in Western societies; women and immigrant political participation and civic engagement in the American Political system; and sustainable economic development. As an art enthusiast, she enjoys travelling and capturing indigenous cultures through the lens of black & white photography.
