This event is co-hosted by the American Pakistan Foundation and the South Asian Students Association at American University in Washington, DC.

Join the American Pakistan Foundation and the South Asian Students Association of American University for a discussion on careers in policy and international affairs with a group of highly accomplished women professionals whose experience spans the federal government, think tanks, the nonprofit sector, and academia. They will discuss the different paths available to students of international affairs and what professional skills and social qualities are required for success.  

This event is part of the APF Mentorship and Internship Initiative which provides opportunities for next generation leaders to learn from experienced professionals by matching mentors and internship hosts with mentees and interns across a variety of sectors throughout the United States.  

Speakers

Neha Ansari is a Visiting Scholar at George Washington University's Institute for Security and Conflict Studies and a PhD Candidate at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Her research focuses on South Asia, particularly strategic relations between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

Shamila N. Chaudhary is President of the American Pakistan Foundation. She served during the Obama Administration  as White House National Security Council Director for Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Myra Khan is a consultant with the Education Global Practice at the World Bank. She received her Ed.M. in International Education Policy from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

Hijab Shah is a research associate with the CSIS International Security Program. She earned an M.A. in security studies and a B.A. in culture and politics from Georgetown University. 

Jumaina Siddiqui is a senior program officer for the Asia Center at the U.S. Institute of Peace. She is a leading expert on extremism, security, and development in South Asia.
