OUR WORK
Building Bridges Through Community Empowerment
SIGNATURE PROGRAMS and initiatives
APF organizes its work into the following signature programs and initiatives:
The APF Pakistan Fellows Program places U.S.-based students and newer professionals with organizations working on Pakistan-centric initiatives, including: social and economic development; public health and telemedicine; policy and international affairs; cultural immersion and education; and decision making and advisory services. Our fellows gain awareness of working in a global context, learn analytical and research skills, develop their career portfolio, engage with mentors and professionals, and look forward in career while giving back to the next generation.
The APF United Nations Initiative facilitates interactions between Pakistan civil society organizations and the United Nations and provides opportunities for U.S.-based students and community organizations to contribute to UN dialogues on Pakistan. In addition, the APF United Nations fellowship program is a six-month long opportunity to get exposure to the inner workings of the UN ECOSOC, attend UN meetings both in-person and virtually, and conduct in-depth research on topics pertaining to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how they affect the American-Pakistani diaspora.
The APF Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Initiative is in its third iteration. With over 600,000 Pakistani Americans residing in the United States, it is crucial that we realize our power to instill lasting change not only in our community, but in our country. Our GOTV 2024 campaign encourages the Pakistani American and South Asian American communities in the United States to vote in the U.S. presidential elections, as well as elections at the state and local levels.
The APF Rising Stars Program was launched in 2023, and was designed to recognize the incredible women of our community who have served the world in instrumental ways across different fields. In our first year of the program, and with close to 100 amazing nominations, we selected 15 Star members from across the country – from big cities, to remote areas – to highlight their work through our platforms.
The APF Leadership Council (LC) is a network of Pakistani American professionals, students, and allies who help implement the APF mission to empower the Pakistani American community in all aspects of American life and to build bridges between the United States and Pakistan.
The APF One Mentorship Program pairs successful mentors with aspiring mentees in their professional fields and career paths. The program also offers corresponding educational and networking initiatives for the Pakistani American community.
ACTIVITIES
In addition to its signature programs and initiatives, APF convenes and participates in events and projects that promote awareness of Pakistan and of the Pakistani American community.
