The Pakistani American Candidate Experience

We will discuss the experiences of Pakistani Americans who run for office, and how we as community members can support and strengthen such civic engagement. We will address the challenges that Pakistani Americans face when contemplating public service, specifically looking at the discrimination within and towards our communities and the detrimental impact this continues to have on our ability to thrive in civic life in the United States.

Joining the conversation will be Mohur Sidhwa, a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 9 of the Arizona House of Representatives, and Shamus Syed, a Republican who ran for election to the U.S. House of Representatives to represent California's 50th Congressional District.
