APF Attends 58th Session of the UN Commission on Social Development
In June 2019, APF received Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Council (ECOSOC), enabling it to engage the international community at the United Nations on policies and initiatives important to the APF mission.
Through the UN Initiative, APF hosts UN meetings focused on Pakistan and participates in NGO Civil Society Meetings hosted by ECOSAC.
APF also provides opportunities for students to contribute through the APF United Nations Internship Program , which was formally launched this month.
On February 14 in New York City, APF interns Adina Aamir, Kelly Cruz Valencia, Yosha Ashis Kumar, and Najma Tubssum attended the 58th session of the Commission on Social Development on homelessness, affordable housing, and social protections for all.
Meet the 2020 APF UN Initiative Interns
The APF United Nations Internship Program introduces interns to the inner workings and policies of the United Nations (UN) and the various ways that Pakistan-related policies are shaped by the UN community.
Interns engage Pakistani and international civil society organizations advancing the Millennium Development Goals, and support activities at the UN as part of APF’s NGO status on the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs Council.
