Dr. Sumera Haque

 

Dr. Sumera Haque is the Founder and CEO of the An-Nisa Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering rural women to champion their health. Recently selected as a Clinton Global Initiative 2024 Commitment Maker, she will lead the Pakistan Rural Women’s Health Empowerment Program.

With over 20 years of global experience in women’s and public health, Dr. Haque served as the Group Chief Medical Officer at the Presidential Initiative hospitals in the Northern Emirates. She also held significant roles in the U.S., including Executive Director of the Johns Hopkins Women’s Health Center in Washington, D.C., where she expanded comprehensive women’s health services.

Named a Presidential Leadership Scholar in 2019, Dr. Haque is the first Pakistani American woman to graduate from the program. Her inspiring immigrant story and contributions to women’s health were featured in President George W. Bush’s book, “Out of Many, One.” For her impactful work, she received the Shero Award from Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Maryland).
