Join the American Pakistan Foundation for a conversation with Clarkson University's Dr. Ali Boolani on how we can stay energized, improve our moods, and combat fatigue during the quarantine. Dr. Boolani studies how energy and fatigue impact our functions and his research focuses on finding solutions to improve these moods. He is currently conducting a study examining the mental and physical health effects of COVID-19, which he will discuss during the webinar. Dr. Boolani will be joined by Chelsea Yager, a neurohospitalist at St. Josephs Hospital in Syracuse, NY; and Dr. Joel Martin, an Associate Professor at George Mason University who specializes in physical activity and movement.
About the Speakers
Dr. Ali Boolani is an Associate Professor at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. He completed his Bachelors and Master degrees at Tulane University in International Relations with a focus on South East Asia. He changed career paths and went on to receive his Masters in Applied Physiology at University of New Orleans, a PhD in Applied Physiology at Oklahoma State University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Georgia in Exercise Psychology. He is currently pursuing a Master of Data Science with a certificate in Artificial Intelligence at The Johns Hopkins University. Ali’s research focuses on improving objective and subjective measurements of energy and fatigue, predicting moods using human movement, the influence of mood traits on mood states and interventions to improve moods.
Chelsea Yager is Certified Physician Assistant with the Neurohospitalist service at St. Joseph's Health in Syracuse, NY. Yager graduated with her MS-PAS from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. Her research is in Alzheimer's Disease, biomechanics, and mood. Yager has participated with and coordinated international medical mission trips to Nicaragua. Previous work experience includes work as a Nutritionist I at Cornell Cooperative Extension and extensive work within the disability community in Liberty Resources Center for Brain Injury and Rehabilitation and Developmental Disability Services.
Dr. Joel Martin earned his Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in biomechanics and motor control. He holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Kinesiology from the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to graduate school his undergraduate work was in Mechanical Engineering at SUNY Binghamton. Since 2016, he has served as the program director for the MS in Exercise, Fitness and Health Promotion degree program at George Mason University. His research interests are focused on improving the health of emergency responder populations.
