Speaker Biographies:
Imam Tariq I. El-Amin is Director of Civic Engagement & Interfaith Services at CIOGC & Imam of Masjid Al-Taqwa on Chicago's southeast side. He's also the former host & producer of Radio Islam which broadcasted daily on WCEV 1450 AM, where he conducted hundreds of interviews related to social justice, interfaith cooperation, anti-blackness, human rights, politics and more. Imam Tariq is also the founder of Bridging the Gap, a non-profit organization focused on building solidarity between diverse groups through, education, service, and dialogue.
Maaria Mozaffer, a civil rights attorney, mediator and legislative consultant, sees firsthand the power of laws. Her mission is to show people how to take control of their lives through the legal and legislative process that our society is built on. She is Director of Advocacy and Policy at the Illinois Muslim Civic Coalition.
Clint Odom is Senior Vice President for Policy and Advocacy and Executive Director at the Washington Bureau of the National Urban League. He served in senior staff positions in the U.S. Senate and the Federal Communications Commission during the Clinton and Obama administrations. Odom practiced law at Cooley, LLC, served as executive with Verizon Communications, and graduated from Louisiana State University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Fatima Salman is the Assistant Director for the South Asia Center at the Atlantic Council. She received her B.A. in Political Science and History from UC Davis, and her M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
