Photography and the Power of the Image in Pakistan

Join us for a conversation on storytelling and photography in Pakistan in collaboration with PakStockPhoto, Pakistan’s first and largest stock digital image library. The speakers will discuss the varied intricacies of being a photographer in Pakistan and the power that exists behind pictures. 

Speakers:

Abid Azam is Co-Founder & CEO of PakStockPhoto. With a degree in software engineering and public administration, He has worked for both the Government of Pakistan and UN agencies in a variety of roles including digital innovation and knowledge management. Most recently, he completed his fellowship in Entrepreneurship from the University of Oklahoma.

Zaira Raza is an entrepreneur based in Islamabad. She has a masters degree in computer science. Before starting her career as a photographer, she worked as a User Interface Designer and Technical Content Writer. She has been running her own photography production house for the past decade. She has taken multiple international assignments and participated in trainings with internationally-renowned photographers. She's currently conducting beginner and advanced level photography workshops to empower female photographers. 

Ibrahim Sajid is a visual artist with a masters degree in photography & design. He has worked for many prominent organizations including Telenor, Zong & Daraz.pk as well as an Associate Professor at the National College of Arts in Lahore. He uses visuals, literature and music to create a personal experience for viewers of his work.

Shamila N. Chaudhary (moderator) is President of the American Pakistan Foundation and an international affairs analyst specializing in U.S. foreign policy with a focus on South Asia. Her work is regularly cited and published in Foreign Policy, The Washington Post, the New York Times and she has frequently appeared on NPR, CNN, Fox News, and other media outlets. She is also an avid  photographer  whose work has been featured in  The Washington Post  and other media outlets and galleries in Washington, D.C.
